Since the day that we first opened our doors at Heroes in 2015, we have always been held back by the limitations of our space. We have operated for many years out of a converted rental home in Gikondo, a neighborhood in Kigali.

While this was fine for us to start, we soon ran out of space and constantly had issues with the house not fitting our needs. For example, it was very difficult and expensive to properly renovate it for children who use different mobility aids, such as wheelchairs or walkers. Our space limitations also forced us to turn children away who could have benefited from attending our school. As a result, we have always dreamed of having a purpose-built facility for Heroes.

We were very happy when the construction of our new Heroes Inclusive Centre started in May 2021! Through years of working with children with disabilities we have gained a lot of knowledge on exactly what type of building we desired, and what would be necessary to best serve the needs of our students. The breaking of ground for this project represented the realization of a dream we have had since we started Heroes.

After a years of planning, generous support, and hard work, the new Heroes Inclusive Centre building is now almost ready to open!

We are very excited for our opening day ceremony for Heroes Inclusive Centre! Our deepest appreciation to all of you for your on going support!
