2025 Joyous Christmas Celebration at Heroes Day Care Center for Children with Disabilities (HDCC)

The Heroes Day Care Centre for Children with Disabilities (HDCC) once again marked Christmas as a time to celebrate children’s progress and strengthen collaboration with families. It was on the last Thursday, the 18th December 2025. The event included the sharing of first-term results, fostering open dialogue between parents and teachers on achievements and next steps. We are thankful for the progress made this term and optimistic about the journey ahead. This celebration was made possible by the financial support of Mubuga Coffee Ltd, whose contribution continues to make a meaningful difference. We wish all our HEROES a peaceful and joyful festive season.

We are very grateful to Mubuga Coffee Ltd for making this celebration excellent and enjoyable, through their financial support. The celebration featured children’s gifts and a shared meal.

This celebration was particularly meaningful, as HDCC invited the first graduates of the HEROES program to share the day with our youngest children. It was a powerful moment of reflection—acknowledging where we started, recognising how far we have come, and reaffirming where we are heading. While the impact of our work is already visible and deeply felt within the community, it is important to be honest: there is still a long road ahead. We sincerely appreciate the presence and continued support of the local authorities from the Kigarama Sector, whose engagement reinforces the value of inclusive community development.

At the same time, we renew our call to funders, partners, and supporters to help us realise a critical next step: building our own centre in Kicukiro District. Currently, HDCC operates from a rented house, an arrangement that remains uncertain and fragile. We cannot risk displacement when the lives and futures of so many wonderful children in Kicukiro District depend on consistent, accessible services. Although the organisation has owned land in Gasabo District since 2022 and an Inclusive School is operational there, many families in Kicukiro cannot afford the distance, transportation challenges, and associated costs. This is why we remain active in Kicukiro—because services must be close to the children who need them most. Let us work together toward a shared goal: mobilising resources to establish a permanent, child-centred, and inclusive facility in Kicukiro District.
