Celebrating Progress: A Look Back at Heroes Day Care Center’s 2024/25 Academic Year

We are pleased to share that the academic year 2024/2025 at APEH Heroes Day Care Center has successfully concluded. The planned activities were implemented smoothly, and meaningful progress was achieved.

Heroes Day Care Center
Throughout the year, the Center offered a holistic learning environment. It was supportive and specifically designed for children with disabilities. In addition to educational activities, we delivered essential therapeutic services, including: Physiotherapy, Occupational therapy, and Music therapy. These interventions contributed significantly to the overall well-being and development of our learners. The dedicated multidisciplinary team worked hand-in-hand with families to ensure each child received individualised care and attention.

Inclusive education
HDCC provides an inclusive education program. Children with and without disabilities learn side-by-side. This environment promotes equality, empathy, and collaboration.

Special Needs Education Teachers were fully engaged in supporting children with intellectual disabilities. They helped them adapt to classroom settings. This enabled meaningful interaction with peers. We received positive feedback from parents, who noted visible progress in their children’s learning and social behaviour

Academic year closure
Today, June 26, 2025, marked the official end of the academic year. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the staff of both institutions for their tireless efforts, compassion, and professionalism. We are truly proud of what they have accomplished this year.May God bless each of them, and we wish everyone a joyful and restful holiday.

Follow-up on Former Students
As part of our commitment to long-term impact, Heroes Day Care Center conducted home visits. These visits were to former students. It was uplifting to see how fondly they remember their time at Heroes. They have aspirations for the future. However, we observed that many of them face serious challenges in their current living conditions. These circumstances are far from the outcomes we had hoped for. This experience has raised an urgent call for action:

We must begin to rethink our post-program support strategies and explore sustainable ways to help our alumni transition into youth and adulthood with dignity, purpose, and opportunity.

They are no longer children—they are young people with dreams, and we must walk with them as they strive to become active members of society.

We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone supporting our work at Heroes. Although we can’t say it enough, you are the pillars that keep us moving forward. A special shout-out to Raissa and Linda Matowo for your unwavering commitment. God bless you!
